That is a cool temporal and spatial travelogue! Took me all over. If there is a theme, besides very nice examples, it is the universality of coinage to reflect the times and concerns of the people they represent.
LordM, what a joy to scroll through your collection. The coin I stopped and stared at the most was the 6d of Elizabeth I. I've been searching to get a portrait that nice; they seem hard to find. Thanks for sharing.
That Bolivian was nice and cheap. Under 40 bucks, as I recall. Already in the plastic. The slab fees alone would've cost more than that, if I had been the one submitting it.
Rob, ...a truly amazing collection. The trip looking at them all was inspiring. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share with us...I liked all of them, but my fav would be the first one, the electrum hekte...Spark
Beautiful eclectic collection! As one inspired by Lord M I, too, found it impossible to limit my own eclectic collection to 20 coins! It's always brightens my day to see these posts.
Nice additions and fantastic collection LM!! Glad you’re doing well. I’ll call first dibs on your half-grosz of Sigismund II if you ever decide to deaccession it. -d
I always enjoy the updates! The box has grown and the quality is as superb as ever. I'm a fan of many (including the Peacock-we are two of the members of that exclusive club after all ).
Also I noticed a US Philippines 50 Centavos. Is that new? I recall discussing Proof versions in one of my threads. I like the business strikes just as much and your example looks very nice!
I’m glad you still have that silver king John penny. That’s one of my favorite coins. Tony the Tiger on the obverse makes me smile. Remember when you had 2. Didn’t I offer you my sisters gold tooth for it
I've had that one since last year. I'd like a proof (especially a peso), but those get pricey, of course. This 50-centavos piece had a two-figure pricetag, so it was budget-friendly. I never had two of those at the same time, but you're right in that I posted two in the same thread: that one and the one I owned before. LOL @ "Tony the Tiger". I don't remember anything about your sister's gold tooth, but hopefully she kept that!
