    THEN READ RULE 2, MODERATOR!
You are being disingenuous. You were the person that allowed, as a Moderator, members telling the OP to shut up, leave the forum, and question the mental health of the member, and comments about the OP family. You joined in with your belittling post.

I don't question the issue of use of a photo or non-use. I question, again, your choice to moderate impartially. YOU chose to belittle the OP, and YOU chose to support the calls by members for the OP to shut up and leave the forum, and and YOU chose to be snarky would the "thou shalt not steal" comment, and now you attempt to deflect your lack of equitable moderation by again avoiding your failure and trying to convince members it is about the Rules.

Refresh your knowledge of the Rules, SPECIFCALLY RULE 2 , which you ignored, and by doing so, allowed the situation to continue. The OP said he would remove the the offending photo. The OP tried. The Op notified you he could not. Moderation removed it. Instead of reducing the climate, you decided to heat it up, by your own discourteous post and by not posting a simple comment that members can utilize the ignore feature or just not read the OP posts and opinions. No, you chose to ignore your responsibility as a Moderator.

Enough deflection and lack of partiality and allowing the OP to be the receiver of personal attacks, as a Moderator.

That is YOUR issue. I don't have any disagreement with the Rules. I have a disagreement with any person that exercises their authority unfairly. You did so. The OP posts about coins. The OP has a valid point...as I invited you to check via Google and the FBI website. How is it against any Rule? Th OP replies have been courteous.

You describe the posts as ad nauseum. Very impartial, do you think? You used the "Thou Shall Not Steal" rude post. Very impartial, do you think?

The thread ran a full course. Members posted their opinions. You could have been done with this hours ago, as an impartial Moderator. What do you do? An hour after the last post, you decide to admonish 3 members.....members that voiced opinions of your lack of impartiality and your personal snarky comments toward the OP. You were grandstanding. You were wrong.

Close the Thread. Or move it. Or erase the comments, but, try not to present a position that you are somehow the injured party and the entire "problem" was a photo, and you were just doing your job and upholding the Rules. Nonsense. Again, Rule 2. Again, I wonder if an Ideology of Division was at work.

You may take any action you prefer as a Moderator concerning my posts. In doing so, ask yourself if your impartiality was lacking? I will state again....I despise abuse of authority by anybody, but especially when it is a Moderator of a public coin forum.

I have offered my opinion. Other members can agree or disagree.

    Tell us please.
The OP isn't a less fortunate soul, he is just posting to make it known that there are much less fortunate than others, It's the same poor me that we hear in every thread.

We all have been taken by a dealer, sometimes they are thieves, Preying on the seller. A smart collector, knows that they have nothing to offer, after a simple text Phone call, standing at a table trying to unload a coin. We as a community do our best to be educated and not get hustled. Just the opposite than the OP is trying to portray. his threads are: Informative - Yes, Constructive - No.

FWIW, just a look at my started threads will show that I post on far more than just coin theft. Coin theft has turned into a hot button issue, especially for a core of specific participants, but I am sure that others would also be sympathetic to them.

This started with an insecure rant about the observation that urban cops don't care about the theft of coins. That literally brought out the Marines. And it is insulting to the intelligence. Major cities all across the country simply simply don't care about home break ins, and less about coin thefts. They can't even be depended upon to take a complete report and when you push them, they get outright nasty.

So, that makes me anti-cops which could NEVER be further than the truth. I'm just sick of them not doing their jobs when it comes to these crimes.

Then it moved on the large flow of illegal coins that easily get sold all over country and on line. This strikes dealers right in their claw. They want to often conduct business under the table and to make fast and simple deals. It happens at every coin show. Coins are absorbed back into the market faster than they can be stolen. This is common knowledge. We ALL know this.

Then there is the support of this by the TPGers. NCG knows, probably, exactly who stole our family 1917 SLQ Type I. They removed its ID from the database but refuse to cooperate accept under the most stringent conditions that the NYPD will not cooperate with. It is a dead end. It was reslabbed and it is somewhere on the market.

    should we continue.

Coins that are stolen and not even re-slabbed have appeared in Stack Bowers auctions and Merra and others. ZERO cooperation because of client privacy and privilege. It is garbage.

The fact is, that all this illegal trade makes being a coin collector and a coin dealer flat out dangerous.

How dangerous. It is so dangerous for the elderly that NYS covers it as a form of elder abuse.

Coin Dealers are OFTEN shot dead, and dealers here brag how they are packing semi-automatic assault rifle and surround their homes with vicious attack dogs? Is this a normal way to live in a civilized society? No - it is not

Don't take MY world for it.

January 18, 2016 Pete Smith on Coinweek discussed in detail the numerous murders of coin dealers related to their daily business.

    https://coinweek.com/people-in-the-news/crime-and-fraud/2015-coin-shop-murders/
    Headline:
2015 Coin Shop Murders Add to a Long List of Tragic Ends for the Hobby

We are just not doing enough to protect ourselves. And we are doing it for the sake of turning over a quick few extra-dollars.
It is not right. And it annoys a few people to say like it is, I will say it anyway. The community needs to wake up and listen because the hobby and industry is being threatened by the Governments response to the rampant criminal problem and the looting that is happening. From Ancient coins, to the modern collections, every affected government agency is eyeing numismatics for regulation. So listen up, and fix your house because if you don't, Uncle Sam will do it for you.

I wrote a lovely piece on the murdered coin dealer Steve Halfon and asked it to be featured. It never got any consideration, although he was beaten to death for being a coin dealer not more than 10 blocks from where I am sitting, and his wife and his family still mourn him. I am not even certain that they ever caught all the guys or recovered the stolen coins. But if you think his case was some form of an anomaly, and it can't happen to you because you are too well armed, that is not just sick thinking, but it is hysterical.

FWIW, I have reported several posts that were outright insulting and they have not raised any responses. That doesn't mean the moderator shouldn't be allowed to moderate what he thinks is a copyright violation, but the point is well made. I don't mind the slap on the wrist, but I don't like the correlation that was made. I'Il ignore the tone, even when the disdain is obvious. First it is hard to hear tone on internet forums. But also, moderators are people and they don't need to be perfect to be effective moderators. But your points are solid.

PLEASE DON'T CLOSE THE THREAD OR MOVE IT!!

The benefit of this is that it speaks to more than just the immediate cointalk community. A record of this discussion can not be easily duplicated and discussions serve the larger community. When folks will get their coins stolen, they will search and it will lead them right to cointalk to read and to learn, and to find resources.

You may not like the person or their messages, why keep fueling something you say you want stopped? Why keep reading or posting. There is more to life on CT than 1 person, and 1 subject discussion?
The person would have been acted upon by a moderator if that person or any other person violated the rules. If any did they were removed or altered and if it
was needed, penalized. Think about the time that is wasted by all. IMO, Jim

Why do you ignore any subject, if the result of an education is the education.
    Ignorance is your first fault.

Wow I don’t think I’ve seen a post that long before. You’re very interested in the intersection of crime and coins. I have no problem with that. I read your threads knowing that’s where we’re going. I just find it interesting that other people feel the need to take time in their life to personally insult you instead of simply not watching or reading material you post or more over or even just ignoring you with the button. Crime and coins are a real issue. I just really don’t appreciate people who dislike your posting reading your threads knowing they’re not going to like them and then posting how they don’t like them, Usually with Personal Insults. Even one of the moderators insulted you in a very personal, non acceptable manner. Why people don’t just ignore you and move on it’s totally beyond me.

If you’re tired of the crime and coins
My best advice Is not to read the threads. But my advice is to the OP you do you. If It is important to you post it.
