Same here, I wasn't expecting to get an extra gift for the second giftee I accepted. A nice surprise. Can hardy wait until Christmas to see what I got from each. One would have been enough.

Well, it's Christmas eve and I went ahead and did it, I just couldn't wait anymore!

Thank you, Secret Santa - I LOVE this! Many fun hours of research ahead, and more than I could possibly have asked for!!

I opened my Secret Santa! Thank you very much Santa. I love the 1724 1/2 Penny. I have very few foreign coins, so it is really appreciated. The cents in coin show slabs are great. The Ohio slab made my morning. Weird, I actually voted for Perot, so the button is Great! Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy the Holidays. Nice selection there. That 1896 korona is a tougher date.

Thank you... I got so excited when I opened them. Not something I know anything about yet, but that's about to change!

My family is historically from that area so it'll be great to learn about the history that went into each design and type.

It's early on Christmas eve, but I opened my secret gifts - a beautiful 2003 Silver Proof Set and a handy dandy little pocket magnifier - a wonderful surprise package from my secret Santa - much thanks and wishing everyone a merry Christmas, season's greetings and a happy, healthy numismatic new year in 2019!

It came today :singing:. I wasn't worried about it. The mail around here has been "unreliable" recently. I will wait till the morning to open and photograph.

    Back to my earlier post.

Inside, there were some ... coins! Imagine that!

I shall elaborate more on this later. Like Santa and his reindeer, I'm actually at work right now. Let me catch up on chores and I'll show my loot. :)

(Later, with the hotel night audit run...)

    Let's see what's here, shall we? :)

Ah! A Netherlands (West Frisia) silver 2-stuiver piece with a turnip mintmark! It is a "holey", and will eventually go onto my trademark hat, which I'm gradually gathering interesting pre-1900 holey coins for.

You see, I sold all the gold coins off my hat during the 2008 recession, when I got laid off, so it's been sitting empty and forlorn in a hatbox on the top of the closet in the decade since. But I've been saving some pieces to give it a new lease on life. One is a love token dime with my initials that my (still unknown) Secret Santa from last year sent me.

There is another holey in here, as it happens: a 1960 5-mils piece from Cyprus. It was holed and lacquered- not the first time I've seen such. I suspect it was on a charm bracelet before. It's a bit too modern to put on my hat, so I've put it on the lanyard for my loupe!

Next we have a nice big silver coin: an 1836 British halfcrown of William IV. And it has CircCam contrast, too!

(Oh, speaking of CircCams- don't forget to enter my December giveaway!)

Last but not least is a mysterious little uniface copper or billon coin, which I suspect is a pfennig from one of the German States- probably Hamburg- circa late 1600s or 1700s, but which I haven't nailed down an ID for just yet. I did have some fun with it on the Ancients Forum already, since when you turn that castle upside-down, it looks like a tetrastyle temple you'd see on some ancient coins.

Many thanks to my (no-longer) Secret Santa, @coin_nut, who also happened to be my (also not-so-) Secret Santa recipient! I only hope the package I sent him on December 6th has made its way to Thailand by now. If not yet, then hopefully soon.

Ja, hopefully soon....I made another offering to the postal gods yesterday (a tin of cookies to the letter carrier). I have another nice holey for you, pre 1800 as well. That unknown tiny coin thing was bothering me too much, so I palmed it off on you, knowing you could probably identify it!

Since I accepted two giftees, I received two gifts. I'll call them Santa I and Santa II

Santa I sent me a 1972 Panama Silver Proof set and a 2002 Silver Britannia. He/She hit two of my hot buttons. World mint/proof sets and Britannias. Not to mention Silver! I own several Britannia but not a 2002. Both gifts are awesome!

    Thank you Santa I

I also got a bag of chocolate coins which were immediately taken by my wife, the resident chocoholic. I might get to eat one or two. Maybe.
