In 2017 and 2019 I hosted "Guess the CoinTalker" games that turned out to be a lot of fun. If you don't remember or weren't around at the time you can check out the master thread for 2019 here: [Ancients] Guess the CTer (2019) Master Thread Just like in previous years there will be several prizes. Also like in previous years I will need the help of regular contributing CoinTalk ancients members. Specifically I am looking for 3 well-known members that don’t mind not being eligible to win a prize. (Though hopefully will still have fun commenting and posting on the threads!) The object of the game will be to match an anonymous coin with its owner and participants who guess will be eligible to win. From the 3 volunteer CT members I would need the following; A high resolution photo of a coin from your collection that you have never previously posted on CoinTalk. (Sent by PM please ). Please include as much info as you have on the coin attribution as well. A brief description (a paragraph or less) of why you like the coin and why you decided to add the coin to your collection! (also by PM) In the next week or two I will post a master thread containing this year’s rules in detail and we can get started. If you are interested in helping out please send me a PM and let me know. Thank you, Curtis
Sounds like a fun game, but I don't think I have any ancient coins not previously posted here that I like enough to share!
I've posted most of my recently acquired coins (since 2018 or so) so I can't do it. I do have a solidus coming in the mail but it would be bad luck to post it before it is in hand. (I just had the post office lose a package that I sent to my son in LA by certified mail, so I am not high on the USPS right now). Sounds like a very interesting exercise though!
Same here. Nothing particularily new in my collection, appart from coins where a big "Q" would be writen on them, like Dombes coins or things of the like.... Sorry about that Q
No worries. The game needs players to guess and participate after all. In fact I’d say it’s even slightly funner to be a player instead of a volunteer. I hope you will both comment, guess and just generally have a good time once the game starts.
As an update I have 1 volunteer already and 1 person who volunteered to step in if needed. So I still need 2 more volunteers.
Hehe. Awww shucks, thanks though it's the suspenders that make the man. Excited for you to get to enjoy a Curtisimo contest: If you haven't had a chance to check out some of em, enjoy. They always bring out the very best of this place: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ancients-curtisimo’s-epic-holiday-giveaway-game-2017.306505/ https://www.cointalk.com/threads/an...intalk-coin-imperator-tournament-2017.293824/ And here's when I almost: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/an...annual-coin-imperator-tournament-2018.320328/
I enjoyed the one from last year, I had to do some serious research on the members to make a good guess and was still way off. This one should be another fun one !
Wow I stepped away from the site for a bit and got lots of messages from members willing to volunteer! Thank you to all! I actually have more volunteers than I need for the game so I will be accepting the offer from the first ones that messaged me. I am very glad there was so much interest in the game. If I am unable to accept your offer to volunteer for this game don’t worry... I plan to host another game later in the year. Plus you can always participate by playing the game I will respond via PM to everyone who messaged me and volunteered. Looking forward to another fun game!
