It's about percentages not absolute dollar amounts. Gold goes up $1 a heck of a lot more and easier than silver going up $1. Gold can go up $100 easier than silver going up $1.
Not sure what the comparisons of gold and silver are about. They are different and both good to own. We might as well be comparing gold to stocks, or silver to bonds, etc.
My choice is WATER, sustenance, habitation, bullets, canines, and the other "desirable" seems to be present when you possess those. LOL JMHO
In the case of this kind of societal collapse, silver is good to have as well as gold. Would you want to pay a gold coin for toilet paper? LOL! Need smaller value coins also, to buy smaller items.
If silver is really worth more than gold I would like to trade my silver for gold-ounce for ounce. any takers?
A lady I sell gold to said she was going to get some of those small bottles of liquor like you get on an airplane flight. If times get hard she could trade one for a loaf of bread but would not want to trade one of her gold coins.
It's simple, do the math. According to USAGOLD on 2-2-2020 gold was $1528.95 and now it's $1900.30. That's an increase of $371.35. Not too bad. But on 2-2-2020 silver was $18.03 and now it's $22.64 for a profit of $4.61. If you had invested the same amount in silver that you did to buy that 1 gold ounce you'd be ahead by $19.57. And that's on 1 ounce of gold. If you bought 10 ounces then silver would be up by $195.70 over gold. Silver is out performing gold!
For one specific time frame, choose for what reason? Long term is all that matters, not a short term burst. Anyway, I say DIVERSIFY and buy both!
You do realize that you hand picked your starting point and completely ignored premiums right ? Silver is currently $22 and some change. For the past 4-5 months silver has been $27-$30 at least. Even generic rounds have been $27 minimum.
I suspect when that time arrives, the reserve currency will be crypto-coin, or something similar. I'm certain many here are familiar with the current major litigation concerning acceptance/transacting of cryptocurrency, and other matters: https://cointelegraph.com/tags/cryptocurrencies I don't believe we can continue world commerce for much longer with the seeming insanity of current sanctions mentality. JMHO
And it's also easy to go back through the archives and pull up old threads, then denigrate members who have made incorrect predictions Glad I didn't listen to this guy when he was bullish on platinum a year ago. I suppose if you make enough predictions, sooner or later, you can find one that is correct. Now will you please pay back the member you cheated. I don't understand why you think your posts carry any credibility after you stole money from a member of this group (all well documented in the archives) https://www.cointalk.com/threads/im-changing-my-username.341352/

I like the potable water thing. We may see the day, maybe not so long from now, that a gallon clean water will be worth more than a gallon of just about anything else. I have a lot of it right now, but where could I store it?
