I'm something of a fan of the quality of the artwork and coinmaking of the Perth Mint, Australia. So I was seriously tempted when I discovered yesterday that their one-ounce gold coins are available in coloured form for not much more than the usual bullion coin price: http://www.taxfreegold.co.uk/australiachineselunarcalendargoldcoinscoloured.html (I've posted a link rather than copying the JPEGs across to avoid copyright infringement. OK, so I'm a neurotic.) Temptation has, so far, been resisted. I remain stubbornly puritanical about bullion: it should be bought at the lowest possible premium. If I can buy Krugerrands at 8% premium, I shouldn't pay 16% for prettier coins. Moreover, I have something of a distaste for astrology.
