Placing a nice coin inside an Air Tites and then realizing there is dirt or a piece of hair on the coin. After dinner I will tackle this beast and try open it.
I had to send my last ATB 5 oz back...tons of "junk" floating around inside the capsule, not to mention milk spots all over the coin. Its replacement was perfect, though...should be a 70...so I'm happy. But QC should have caught that before it went out...assuming they check them at all.
I had to pay the return postage, yes...but they shipped it back on their tab. I'd rather do that than have a jacked up coin...unless it was jacked up in the right way!
I think you take a double hit... return postage (including paying for insurance if you want it, since you're on the hook if lost) plus, original shipping charges are not refunded. With an exchange, they'll pay to ship out the replacement to you.
What grinds my gear is opening an airtite then noticing that its never as tight when I put it back together.
It's crazy that there is dirt/hair inside of those Coins from the U.S. Mint. I always thought every coin would arrived nice and clean...lol
I usually inspect the air tite first just in case. If I see any dust or hairs I'll use a clean microfiber cloth. Or if I'm having problems removing the dust or hair I'll also use a compressed air can.
Those sucker bulbs for cleaning babies noses out also blow good and are great for blowing dust and hair off of airtites. I also have had a mint set come with hairs in em, but i sent the sucka back.
