It’s a shame too because it applies to debit cards as well even though debit doesn’t charge any fee since it’s the customer’s money being directly withdrawn like a check. I can tell you I recently bought a 1927 St Gaudens Double Eagle and it was a huge pain carrying around that much money in cash. Even in $100 bills. It’s also extremely unsafe in many places.
The way I see it…an ounce of .999 silver should always be able to be sold for enough money to buy a nice hearty meal for one at a decent restaurant. Today with silver at about $24 an ounce you could probably sell a generic 1 oz round for about $22 to a dealer. Your order was $33 but I’m guessing it was for more than one person so the price doesn’t seem too out of whack. Keep in mind Carl’s Jr. is considered fancy for a fast food restaurant. It’s above McDonalds and Burger King and Taco Bell and places like that. I’d say it’s a step or two above those and a step or two below Applebees/Chilis type restaurants.
3 people, but still to much...LOL, there's always Mcdonalds, can get out of there for under $16, $12 with app discounts, if all else fails there's always the $1.50 hot dog and soda at Costco
Probably because Carls Jr. itself has to pay higher prices due to big inflation in the price of everything. They pass that on to the customer and then customers vote with their wallets. Wheat in particular is going to be a lot more expensive due to a large amount of it coming from Ukraine and currently Ukraine isn’t exporting as much as in the past. I’m just grateful that I can afford to feed myself whenever I am hungry. I try to remember that there are people including children who go to bed hungry at night because they can’t afford even a simple meal. Once I watched a documentary on North Korea and one of the defectors said that his biggest dream was to be able to eat a bowl of rice with a fried egg on top 3 times a day. That really moved me because it’s such a simple request yet for him it was more than he could dream of in North Korea.
We eat out allot, just because of busy schedules and have really noticed this increase across the board, my wife wanted to none to Hawaii lsat year great place to visit but wouldn't want to live there, once you have done everything on the island what's next ? plus milk is about $12 a gallon, we go through about 4 gallons of mill a week, Costco Non fat
Hawaii’s high prices are understandable though since at least they can use the excuse that they have to import everything by ship/plane. It’s like Japan. You can buy stuff native to Hawaii at a good price but everything that has to be brought in costs a lot more than on the main land. In Japan beef in particular is a lot more expensive. Yet Japan is well known for producing the best beef in the world (Wagyu $200/pound). They even feed the cows sake and give them massages and somehow Wagyu ends up with exceptional marbling.
You're most likely correct re: the future of electric cars, nevermind trucks, etc. It was recently calculated that solely for the U.K. to meet the goal of full electrification of its auto fleet by the nominal date of 2030, the entire output of the whole world in the necessary noble metals and rare earths X 2 would be required. There just ain't enough of that stuff.
I think if any PM shoots up due to technology demand it will be silver. Why? Because I think solar panels will be more popular than electric vehicles. They last longer and increase home values whereas cars immediately lose value when driven off the lot. Solar panels require something like 7 grams of silver per panel and there is an average of 12 panels per house so roughly 3 troy oz of silver per home installed with solar panels. Multiplied by hundreds of millions of people and that’s a lot of silver demand.
Or how about the geniuses in California. They've been executing rolling blackouts for years because electric demand exceeded electric supply. So they say let's scrap all ICE (internal combustion engines) and really tax our electric grid by making every auto an EV. If they couldn't handle the electric demand without the edict to force everyone to own EV's, how on this green planet (see what I did there ) will they handle the geometrically increased demand after everyone owns an EV? Their collective synapses are only firing on one cylinder. I'm on a roll. See what I did there? I'd say to the residents of CA don't get rid of your ICE vehicles just yet.
Is that high or low? A quick check shows me a place that will sell me all I want at $1105, a 20% premium, but I don't know if the Craigslist ad was for a graded coin, or if anyone would care if it was.
Craigslist for bullion, I would be very suspicious from the start, its best only to deal with a reputable dealers like APMEX, most of my purchases are made thru them I think peace of mind is worth a couple extra dollars. Current Platinum price: $ 940.81 APMEX ( APE ) $ 1,060.79 So if that is what your looking for ? The $1105 would be way over board in comparison.
I make my lunches and dinners. If I’m going out it to a restaurant with a couple of grandbabies . We crunch your bill.
My grandparents were always very frugal and spent their money wisely.. But they’d always let us grandkids order whatever we wanted at McDonalds or Wendy’s.
I go out just about every night, my wife has medical issues so try to make things easier on her, but it gets very expensive !
That’s understandable . Usually with really young people I think going out all the time is a waste of money but once you reach a certain age there’s nothing wrong with using some of that money to enjoy life. One reason I stack is because I want a little nest egg I can enjoy later. I have to remind myself that buying gold & silver isn’t like buying something else. The majority of the value is still there. It’s not like buying a new TV. I plan on enjoying it one day though. I don’t plan on passing it on to anyone xD. Maybe one day it will pay for a month long vacation to Europe or something that’s once in a lifetime. My ancient & US coin collection though is something I would pass down. I want to make sure my coins continue to survive for future generations. They’ve already made it through thousands of years.
