These little coins from India are devilishly difficult to find in MS condition with attractive toning and original surfaces. I have seen so many cleaned that I thought I'd never find an original one....but alas, patience....led to this one. And, yes, I'm aware the horse is actually the reverse, but I collect horse coins, so I put him on the left. You'd think for a coin minted in the hundreds of millions of pieces it would be easier to find a nice one!
Got the 5 Mark yesterday for $1.50 and the 1858 Gothic Florin for $5 I had a good weekend (sorry couldn`t crop the florin reverse photobucket wouldn`t let me, the option wasn`t there for some reason ) -Owen
Here's mine! I was actually just looking for a circulating one, but I couldn't find any, so I had to settle for this. I'm glad I did! 2011 Uncirculated Archery 50 Pence Coin It's actually pretty shiny but it's hard to tell in the pictures. Does anyone else like the Olympic 50 Pence coins? I think they're awesome!

I just picked up this 1852A 20 Fanc gold for a few bucks above melt. I was more interested in it for the bullion but now I may be getting interested in foriegn coins.
This new addition to my horse themed set arrived today. It is a nice crusty version of a somewhat difficult Italian type coin. Finding one in AU range is doable and affordable with patience -- but finding the type in MS is almost impossible, and often very expensive. I opted for AU range. The design of the woman riding in the biga is great! Krause lists the mintage of the 1928 at 6.6 million pieces and gives values of $60 in VF, $200 in XF, and $400 in MS. No AU price is given, but this AU example with a lot of "crust" set me back around $80. The 1928 is a slightly better date than the much more common 1927, which was minted in a quantity of 44.8 million with listed prices of $30 in VF, $100 in XF, and $200 in MS. The other available dates (1926, 1929, and 1930) go for more money and are difficult to even hunt down in grades of AU, let alone MS. To complicate matters, the 1927, 1928, and 1929 issues come in two different edge lettering types (the KM# 68.1 as mine is, and the KM# 68.2 which varies slightly). Follow the two links if you wish.
A good purchase :thumb: We talked about this coin in this thread http://www.cointalk.com/t206827/ Your type should be the most common, with one "rosetta" on the edge. The valuation in Italian catalogue for EF/AU condition is € 180 ($ 220), the real market price in Italy € 120-130 ($ 140-160). petronius
Pcgs grades world coins a bit harder than Ngc why??? I don't know but from your photo it looks to be a AU-55-58 as there is just a hint of wear on the Ear.
New arrival from an auction in Spain - 1796 8 Reales from Mexico in AU. Just the right mix of crust, color, and luster.
