Thanks. The cats ARE looking at me kinda strangely. My mind is spinning so fast I have to read and type to slow things down.
Thank you, all you wonderful CTers. I just got a call from the surgeon. My son's lab numbers have now improved to the point where surgery can now be done. He goes in tomorrow, Tuesday, morning. No promises are coming, but at least he's healthy enough that the surgery itself wasn't too risky. Phase 1 down, phase 2 tomorrow. All the help from above we can get is greatly appreciated. This past ANA was the first one since 2009 we couldn't do together, he was feeling poorly. We had even done Atlanta in March together. I was the pirate at the Treasure Trivia on that Saturday. It's right there in The Numismatist, May 2014 issue, top right of page 72. A strapping 6ft 2in 180lbs kid six months ago has nearly checked out as a skeleton with skin, and might still. Hug your own family members, PLEASE!
Having partaken of moderator Jim's excellent suggestion to PM Peter the soapbox owner, I find that PM's to him carry a 3 tweet length limit. (420 characters.) All I can say is, "Wow guys, really?" The issue can't be squeezed into that, at least not by THIS particular professional political writer.
3 tweet length limit? Good gosh man, not only do I not know what the heck that is, but I have never had a posting say "maximum limit reached." Peter is a great guy, a very hands off owner of this site who simply wishes it to be a place to talk about coins and aspects VERY closely related to coins. General politics, religion, profanity, etc add nothing to a discussion on coins for the most part, they simply encourage flame wars. Nothing productive can be discussed during flame wars. So, reach out to Peter, have a nice conversation, but he has been fairly steadfast about what he wants to see at CT. Like others have said, some like it, some don't. I will say, though, this is the lightest moderate board around. Whole topics get deleted at will at most other sites, here I have only seen that happen to spam or profane threads.
Thank you, greenie. Much appreciated. I have managed to snag a nap (mental collapse?) and the world feels a bit less overwhelming for the moment. If you think I've been hard to take here, you should have heard the tirades I had with the managed care insurance folks. Oy vey! (And to think someone tried to tie my views to the prez. Hooboy!)
Amen Chris. In some other places if they don't like your 'type font' they kick your keester out.......
The main type font here is pretty nice, all in all. He who hijacks needs to drag back. Silver, for the first time in like 500 days, I haven't looked at spot silver all day. Now I have. Choppy sideways. First move at the 6pm opening of the Globex, decidedly down. That 6pm Globex move is becoming a habit.
Bottom line, I hold a lot of silver, most of it bought when it went for about $5 per. I stopped completely all bullion influenced silver purchases when it hit $25 on the way up, sold a boatload at $40 on the way down, and haven't bought an ounce not part of a numismatic set since. Don't believe in hyperinflation. Don't believe in what people call "stacking". Not gonna start. Junk silver is still junk when all is said n done. (Have you noticed the supply of it seems endless?) At these levels silver seems neither cheap nor expensive to me. It feels like sanity may have returned a little. That's all. BTW, I have noticed that my posts to likes ratio does run steady at 3:1, and that ain't half bad. But I've also noticed many of my likes come from people who don't post much. Do you think maybe a few people who think as I do may have been cowed into silence somewhere along the way? Food for thought.
Silver is pretty cheap when compared to Gold, I tend to like buying junque silver, I have about 4 or 5 rolls of 42 mercs, looking for that elusive 42/1
(getting ready to shuv my foot in my mouth if I'm wrong...) With the ECB still getting more accomadative with another dip down into negative interest rates, and the fed here getting ready to start raising rates, the stage is set for another leg down in silver via a stronger dollar vs euro. What makes me most certain about another leg down in silver is that I want to focus on beefing up my safe haven short term cash. Typically when i'm not in a position to buy silver, or should be paying other bills, a great opening happens.
I am waiting until everyone gives up on silver. That will be the time to buy. Almost everyone is there now. I still have a bit of the silver bug left in me, but when it wanes, I am going to start looking around again. I read a lot of different things, and some are saying that silver is in a downward wedge, others are saying we are right near a bottom. I am going to wait and see if the Fed raises interest rates. If they do it might change things a bit.
There's too much uncertainy in the world today for stackers to just give up on silver. The days of Ike serenely painting pictures in the Rose Garden as Beaver annoys Wally is a dot in the rearview mirror and it's not really closer than it appears.
Hey, hey! We're not disparaging 1950's TV now are we? That might not be appreciated on the site. I dunno, Ward and June Cleaver doesn't seem like such a bad thing to me. But Sky King? C'mon. Pure debauchery.
