You know, the automatic word censor on this site is quite aggressive. In fact, it's one of the most aggressive censors that I've seen on a web forum. My assumption is that anyone buying gold & silver is in the big boys league and doesn't mind the spicy language. So I assume that if it passes this program then the wording is OK. I don't mind as I completely understand that Cointalk is provided free of charge and those that provide it, make the rules. As an administrator of a web forum (not related to coins) I've been there & done that, so I appreciate where the staff of this site stands on these sorts of things. It is indeed difficult to see posts and topics that you don't necessarily agree with, but then again, what is your purpose for putting the time, energy and most importantly, money into providing a web forum? If you don't agree with a section, then close it down. If you want people to participate on this site who can take these discussions with a manner of sophistication in which bullion investing demands, and to a larger extent what coin collection of coins from an era that no longer exists, then you might want to offer up a bit more than this. If you don't want discussions at this level to take place here then say the word, and a number of us are gone for good. There is no reason to force the issue on those who make these rules on their site and who have no interest in hearing it. There are plenty of other places to go and we will take the discussion(s) there. The rest of you can digress back to the "I bought some silver whatever" and "what do you think silver will do" discussions. "Bullion Investing" in it's essence, in modern America, means to hedge against the status quo. If this isn't welcome here then just say so. Absolutely nobody wants to participate on a forum that is being characterized as being on "life support" by the staff who apparently doesn't want to hear it.
Gold will definitely go up some more but it's just a matter of when. My guess would be within the next 2 years you will see the price spike. All that has to happen is for Israel to start wompin' on Iran and PM's will go through the roof.
Poor assumption, read the rules, the whole section. http://www.cointalk.com/t34131/ Especially the last part, Coin Talk Code of Honor I fail to see where "sophistication" or even pseudo-sophistication requires "spicy" words. Obviously if you wish to go to another forum where you can use salty words and wow with your sophisticated explanations, no one can stop you, but if you stay here, stay within the rules. I am sure you can find ways to express yourself adequately. Jim
>>blink<< wow Why did you quote yourself later, which BTW, was really a quote of what I said when I suggested it needs to be opt in only. The truth is though, as much as dislike this section, it would be fine if you weren't constantly upsetting everyone here. This thread had NOTHING to do with the gold standard...
Even more to the point, Gold might be one of the largest contributors to Inflation right now then everything else. But forgetting all that, and this is so off topic, what could gold have POSSIBLY done to prevent the Chinese from using a ton of resources, especially oil, thereby pushing the cost of oil up through the roof? I don't care if your using Gold, Silver or Sea Shells, the current economic situation is going to cause inflation. Oil, Lithium, Silver, Copper, Wheat and grain, all of it has gone up...and unless your going to kill off all the Chinese and the Indians, get used to it. Ruben
If you can't figure out how to buy the dips, then I'll tell you what my dates used to tell me. "You're doing it wrong."
I have not cursed or used any profanity. With that said, I'll note that there was nothing sophisticated about 1950s TV either, but if you wish to keep the CoinTalk Bullion Investing forum like a "Leave it to Beaver" episode then as I said earlier, you guys make the rules. Please note, there also wasn't anything "sophisticated" about 1950's TV. Even these people, freed of their earlier 1950s shackles, would tell you that if the Bullion Investing forum is on "life support", then please go ahead and pull the plug. Nobody wishes to be kept alive beyond their time.
Unbelievable. Can you get anything right? Leave it to beaver with Jerry Mathers was a mid 1950's show in Black and White. You plucked the image of some cheap 1980's remake of it for the Movies. or maybe that is them for some cheap reunion with new children added.
"Life support" indicates that someone is trying to save a life, not pull the plug Ah, another shift. Of course I didn't infer any degree of sophistication to 1950 TV shows, I was answering your "Bullion Investing Demands" comment, but then that was obvious to most. Again, read the rules, they apply to me, you, and the whole site. Have a nice evening.
I assume that there is some behind the scenes discussion going on here that I'm missing, although it is easier enough to infer some of the conversations knowing the player involved for a long time now.... sigh. I have an idea if anyone wants to ask, but i doubt that I've thought of anything you guys haven't already considered. Ruben
