Mornin' people. Last week gold was trading in the high 800's and silver was trading in the low 12's. I take a look this morning (didn't peek at all yesterday) and as of 9:03 this morning gold is trading at $914.30 and silver at $13.55. What the heck happened while I was snoozing for the last few days? Especially with silver?

Metals spike up and spike down, and nobody can tell you for certain why the individual moves take place or what the next one will be. Most of the moves are irrelevant to the trend over the past decade, which is up.

Now I would expect that news to lower PM prices, not raise them...

You find out keep it to yourself, share it with me and we will both make a fortune - sometimes I think it's controlled by Gypsies or something.
The one I can't believe is these energy drinks - take .20 cents worth of Caffeine and vitamins and put it in a little bottle and charge $3 for it. They sell millions a week and all it is is half a cup or a whole cup of coffee worth of caffeine - why didn't I think of that? The kids should have learned to like the taste of coffee - they would have been a lot better off.

Bottled water is even better... let's take the most common substance on the planet which is basically free, put it in a bottle and charge people money for it! BRILLIANT!! So brilliant that those bottles are becoming serious landfill issues!!

That's what happens when people think the sky is falling. They fall for every hysteria, one after the other - even though the dire predictions are almost always wrong or way inflated.

WATER IS UNSAFE !!!! BETTER BUY BOTTLED WATER !!!

    Whatevah.

True... but the mega-forces quoted by MrOrganic are dominant.

Daily fluctuations ? Who cares ? The long term trend is up.

That would be true if investors actually had faith in anything he says. Obviously, they don't and are now panicking.

Well $902 isn't really a big spike. And the economic recovery hasn't happened yet. Depending on which camp you are in one must decide if now is the time to buy.
My opinion is get in now at $900 before the demand pushes the price higher.

Stability is the key ingredient lacking in all markets at the moment. So long as prices can swing wildly, up or down is irrelevant.
