Why should I invest in Gold coins?

I have recently started to invest in gold coins since the value of gold is going up. I find when people hear gold they become more interested in the coin plus usually when you buy gold coins mintage is lower and more likely that coin will be worth a lot more.

I don't thing of any gold coin as an investment.
but I do like to buy gold at the lowest price I can!!!!

I had a question concerning gold coins, so I figure I would post in this thread. I've got a 2011 1/10 ounce AE and I'm looking to get another gold coin. Right now I'm looking at 2011 1/4 ounce from APMEX for the next step up in my collection.

What would be the best places to purchase online for a 2011 1/4 ounce gold AE? thanks.

This is the only "doomsday" scenario that you should hold gold coins for. i.e. Wealth preservation in a rapidly changing political/economic system. I would not bother to prepare for end of the world Armageddon by stockpiling bullets, lard, and boxes of Lucky Charms. Armageddon has a habit of showing up at a time and form that you least expect so don't bother. The living may be worse off than the dead.

Here's hoping that all have a good 2012. If you have gold, I know you will.
