That approved coins. That did not make only US coins Legal Tender. It wasn't until 1857 that the US Government only accepted coins that it made Legal tender. There were even coins that the US government made that wasn't legal tender.

No - MORE obscuring. You really aren't making an friends by lieing all the time.

The definition of INFLATION RATE is over a fiscal year or a fiscal quarter as measured by the government under the consumers price index.

They did, but only as much paper as there was gold to back it up. They could not arbitrarily create as much paper as their hearts desired. That is the key difference, whether the money created has hard assets backing it up or requires faith.

That is because I'm not interested in your answer. I'm asking Fatima for his answer. Deal with one survivalist at a time.

The context of my reply to you initially in this regard was regarding currency. Legal tender was not part of the discussion. Regardless of coinage or not, gold and silver were declared legal tender in the US Constitution. You are making undue inferences and twisting the conversation, much like fatima is accused of doing (but I don't see it).

The only thing forgotten was that Jackson's rash actions threw the country into a severe depression.

You obviously don't care to know the answer then and do not deserve a reply.

I asked you WHO ARE THE BANKERS. Who are they that they have talk holes and are being accused of some huge conspiracy by you? Are they Arab Oil billionaires?

Are they the Bush family. Are they the Mayflower decedents?

When central banks are running the show and the economy relies on inflation and debt accumulation to sustain its growth levels, of course there will be deflation and depression when you kick them out and allow the market to return to equilibrium. That is not President Jackson's fault. He did the right thing.

No - like Alexander hamilton warned, Jackson tossed the entire nation into a currency crisis and collapsed the state and private sector debt markets instantly causing nearly a 125 loss in GDP and leaving farmers with wheat rotting in the bales along the Erie canal because the futures market collapsed. And then they lost a growing season.

It did benefit slave owners though.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panic_of_1837

The Panic of 1837 was a financial crisis or market correction in the United States built on a speculative fever.[1] The end of the Second Bank of the United States had produced a period of runaway inflation, but on May 10, 1837 in New York City, every bank began to accept payment only in specie (gold and silver coinage), forcing a dramatic, deflationary backlash. This was based on the assumption by former president, Andrew Jackson, that the government was selling land for state bank notes of questionable value. The Panic was followed by a five-year depression, with the failure of banks and then-record-high unemployment levels.

Jackson was one of the worst President to ever get elected to office. He was a total idiot.

Here is my problem with the fractual reserve banking standards. It is essentially only as secure as the faith from the people. With that being said if the Euro goes what will happen to the paper market? You can look at our current balance and see that we are in the negative across the board. Infact the rest of the world owns 3 trillion dollars of the U.S. more than we own of them. This money multiplier (bubble) is then backed up by "deposit inurance" from none other than the central bank. Well where does the faith stand in the central bank?

The following table provides all the Inflation data from 1914 to the Present. For the current inflation rate data just since the year 2000, see Inflation page. The Inflation rate is calculated from the Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) which is compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and is based upon a 1982 Base of 100. To view the actual Consumer Price Index data that this inflation data is calculated from, go to the Historical CPI table.
Blank Cells = Data not available because it has not been released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. You can click a column heading to sort by that column.

A CPI of 195 indicates 95% inflation since 1982, the commonly quoted inflation rate of say 3% is actually the change in the Consumer Price Index from a year earlier. To find Prior Inflation rate data on this table (back through 1914) click on the date range below the table.
The "Annual" on this table is the Average of the individual Inflation rates for that year. Caution, you cannot just add the inflation rates from two consecutive years or even average them to find the total inflation between two dates. If you would like to calculate the inflation rate between two dates you must base your calculations on the actual CPI index or you can use our handy easy to use Inflation calculator or you might prefer to use our Cost of Living Calculator to compare the costs in two cities.
You can find links to Inflation and Consumer Price Index data for other countries HERE. A chart of Inflation by decade, Annual Inflation and Confederate Inflation is also available. Menu navigation is available on the menu bar on the left of every page. We have a complete listing of all of our Articles on inflation, including Inflation Definitions, Which is better High or Low Inflation, and How to Calculate Inflation , Inflation Adjusted Oil Prices (Chart) and Inflation Adjusted Oil Prices (table) and a Monthly Inflation Rate Table.

[FONT=Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]As normally used, Inflation rates are expressed as yearly rates, even when discussing monthly numbers. So if April's inflation rate is 3.1% then that would mean it is the rate that if April was the entire year, then it would be 3.1% for the year.

I wonder which of the bankers wrote this?

You should open your mind a little, the European banking powers have been orchestrating all kinds of hardship on the people and economies of this planet whenever they don't get their way.

    Hello

BTW, it is interesting that between 1917 and 1920, during the gold standard, inflation rates topped out over 15%.

That is government issued currency you are talking about - not bank issued paper. You do know the difference?

Does anyone here actuually think the average American worries about the future of money, debt, or having faith in the banking systems? Seeing as middle-class America holds the majority of the wealth, as opposed to the 42% owned by the top 1% if you want to blindly believe those numbers, this same class is also the most in debt due to overspending many multiples their yearly income on luxury items including houses they shouldn't be able to afford, multiple cars, boats and vacation homes. Does that sound like a 99% of the population worried about the value of their dollars? And, if we turn the tables, the top 1%'s number one investment isn't in gold or silver or mega yaghts, it's in dollars. If you think the Fed is the only one buying government bonds on the cheap you better look again. Much of that 42% is tied up in bonds backed by nothing more than those US dollars that some say aren't a haven for building wealth.
