    Probably the right call here.
I kind of have a sneaky feeling that the mintages for the later ATB's is going to be low. I just do not see interest in these things staying high for the whole run.

Yep, at about $250 per coin and 55 or so coins, that will turn into quite an investment. This series is somewhat similar to the presidential dollars: there are a few iconic leaders, but most people couldn't care less about the rest of them.

With the America the Beautiful series, a lot of the coins don't even represent national parks: Mount Hood, Gettysburg, Vicksburg and Chickasaw are not. Again, we have a few icons, but a lot of the sites are pretty obscure. If it had been a true national park series, the interest may have been higher, but just making it another state quarter series, as the Mint did, was not the greatest idea since sliced bread.

They're national historic sites administered to by the National Park Service. Maybe splitting hairs but they are trying to get every state represented in the series. Not every state has a national park but most have an national historic site of some sort. Those who feel it's another state quarters program should simply resolve not to collect 'em. :)

the state quarters was a great way to turn non-collectors into collectors but now that the parks is state quarters with a new face everyone lost interest already.

im probably going to sound crazy for saying this but i dont use a loupe. maybe an old lens i woulda pulled outta some projector but not a loupe.

Green, you just made my point. Because there are those who feel this is just a recycled state quarters program, they will resolve not to collect them and, as a result, interest in them will diminish, sales will decline and mintage will lessen. For example, because of the design of the program, we will not be getting Crater Lake National Park and Grand Tetons National Park, 2 of the most spectacular places in our wonderful country. We will, however, get Chicasaw National Recreational Area, which used to be a national park under another name, but had its status revoked because it went downhill. Isn't political correctness a great thing!
