Welcome to CT .You have some beauties there . I used to collect Patterns . Sold most of them off to help open my business. Kept this one for a while until I got an offer I couldn't refuse. Judd-432 PF64RB Low R.7 I still love them ,keep many on my watch list but for the most part stopped collecting them. I'll buy them (or anything) if the price is right ,hold on them for a bit & sell them just the same.
Some amazing coins , if I wasn't spread so thin already I'd pick up a couple . Do you have any Trade Dollar patterns ? Keep em coming !!!!!
For the time being I do not have any trade dollar patterns. I know what you mean, there are usually more coins I want to buy than I have funds or trades to acquire... They come in groups it seems. The ANA show and auctions usually have a few I'm interested in... This past auction I got all that I was trying for save for one, unfortunately it was the target of another and we bid it up to triple what it sold for last time it appeared at auction, in the end I conceded
I've got some patterns. I just absolutely love copper patterns of silver or gold as well. I tried to start a post your patterns thread but it didn't go far https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-your-patterns.250266/
THANK YOU! Your patterns are amazing and your comment is appreciated! I love all the coin facts photo coins, nice job they are all stunning!
I've always liked patterns but my wallet won't let me collect them. I only have one, J-312 I believe, an 1863 two cent with the GOD OUR TRUST motto and strongly curved CENTS. It was either spent or carried as a pocket piece because it only grades VG - F.
Very cool! They are rare and few get to take care of them for any period of time, I think the fact someone carried that around makes it cool in a different way
I like patterns, but many of them are expensive. There are some really cool designs (many of them are more interesting than what we eventually wound up with). Eventually I'd like to get some, but not any time soon.
They are very interesting to study and I feel more beautiful in many cases. There are many Indian Cent patterns and they are slightly lower rarity and cheaper than other patterns. Here is a J-227 graded MS64 PCGS Secure Ex Farouk auction / accompanied by Abe Kosoff signed note of origin.
Depending on grade and rarity $500-2500 I would never suggest these are cheap coins or a cheap series to collect. They are very interesting however and I think even lower budget collectors can get into the series if their focus is some of the lower rarities
Keep your eye on 1859 indian head cents. So far I have seen three occurrences of the pattern 1859 with rev of 1860 slabbed (by both PCGS and NGC) as a regular 1859 cent and selling in the $200 rage.
