    I have the opportunity to buy some gold coins and medals out of an estate at spot or 2% below. Which would you recommend? Weights are net gold weight.

    US Mint Grant Wood, 1 oz - 2% below
    US Mint Marian Anderson, 1/2 oz. - 2% below
    Kruggerand, 1 oz - 2% below
    $50 Canadian Maple Leaf, 1 oz. - Spot

    Hate to say it, but Maple leaf. More marketable than the others in the US. Kruggerands still have the "aparthied" slime about them some, and the others are medals. Most gold collectors want coins.

    Breaks my heart to say so, since I am not a fan of the Canadian mint, and being from Iowa Grant Wood is a favorite.

    Greetings group & Medoraman,
    I would like Canadian coins more if they didn't have that boring Lizzy-reverse.
    Friend of mine & bullion buyer is very impressed w/ their '.999999999'
    purity compared to the U.S. .9995/.999.
    I asked (not AXED) him if he knew how many ounces he would have to buy
    to cash in on that purity...:-{

    Like @medoraman said, could be the Maple Leaf is more marketable than the others, idk. Either way, I still think I'd buy the Krugerand as I've always wanted one! :D

    Krugerrands and/or Maple Leafs as for market acceptance.

    I'd take the krugerrand. You can't argue with gold at 2% less than spot.

    Thanks for the input. I'll probably wind up buying 1 each of the medals and 2 each of the Kruggerands and Maple Leafs. Maybe not right this instant since gold peaked yesterday at like $1944.

    Coin World had mintage for all 4 of the big bullion coins in a recent article...ML, Krugger, Eagle, Buffalo. Kruggerand is so far ahead it's not funny.
