Yep, because spouses always act rationally in domestic cases. I wonder what the mother-in law thinks, Steele was gonna' have her killed too. Steele also wasn't sentenced to life ( only a mere 50 years), and no one was killed. The FBI didn't convince a convicted murderer of anything, Fairfax (the would be hitman) contacted the FBI first, and wasn't facing charges until the bomb he planted was found. I seriously doubt the FBI would burn the guy they convinced to falsify evidence before the trial took place. The fact of the matter is the case against Steele was solid. The FBI had a wired conversation between Steele and Fairfax talking about the hit, along with a ton of circumstantial evidence (including, proving his marriage was in trouble).
