Apparently the OP is just trying to justify buying the coin because it is labelled as being minted at the West Point mint. IMO he feels that the West Point mint is superior to the other mints and that is why he bought it. No matter the validity of his reasoning, it is his coin and he feels good about it. It may or may not fetch more money when it is sold, but that will be his heirs problem/gain. I've bought several ASE's that the label stated they were from the West Point mint just so I could round out a year that includes San Francisco mint and Philadelphia mint. Unlike the OP, however, I do not expect to make more money if I sell them, but I do feel good that I have all 3 mints represented for that year. Those specific years are special in the life of my daughter, and she will be inheriting them when I go to the big coin collector's haven in the sky.
“No matter the validity of his reasoning, it is his coin and he feels good about it.” Very true, and that is what we use to tell him when he would talk *&$# about graded coins less than a year ago.
You’d have to sell that coin to someone that just has to have that holder and have every possible minted of that coin. To me it’s just a P. Granted it’s West Point. I needed Billy Williams to complete my 68 baseball card set. Think he was # 30 something. Never got him
That was rude. Your having a pipe dream. It’s all good. Your trying to better children. That’s what really counts. In the long run. Your ideas are honorable
