I wonder when the 2016 30th anniversary eagles will become available ? http://www.coinworld.com/news/us-co...w-regulating-silver-coin-composition.all.html https://www.cointalk.com/threads/30th-anniversary-for-american-eagle-series-on-2016.256102/
Thanks for that. I might share it around.... Check out about 6:30 into it guys, there IS an actual first strike coin (and last) per die pair. I wonder what they do with those?
They say they archive them, so I am guessing the mint always keeps the first and last coin struck. So now the term, First Strike IS not accurate, should be First Strikes.... Mystery solved.
FWIW, a civil lawsuit was filed and settled in Florida many years ago when the complainant argued that the term "First Strike" was misleading. The court ruled in their favor, and so NGC stopped using the term in favor of "Early Releases". PCGS was not affected by the ruling because they are located in California. Chris
I have one now from PCGS in MS70. Paid $38 for it, we'll see how it does. I bought it more to have one than any investment.
Watching the "tuber" was kinda neat. Reminds me of a magician doing card tricks. Replaced by a machine in 2014 it appears...
I have one too. ms70. Is yours a first strike? From what I've seen here, maybe that ain't so special.
