    Nice. I've been targeting these lately too since silver is down. They always sell for far above melt though.

    Very nice. I really like that 25 Toned Peso.
    Is that 52 5 Pesos PL?

    Did you buy someone's collection? That's a lot of pieces to pickup one at a time. Very nice indeed. I have several Libertads and 1 Onza bullion pieces but only the 1958 Peso. It's in excellent shape though.

    Plenty of dealers throw these coins in their scrap silver coin piles (well, except for the 8 reales). I have dozens of the 20'-40's 50 centavo/1 peso, 1948/49 5 pesos and 1968 25 pesos and some of the others that I plan on selling as a bulk lot for melt value, just waiting on silver prices to become more favorable.
    They do seem to go for more than melt most often on eBay as @Hiddendragon mentioned. But they are also fairly easy to buy as scrap, even in nice condition, when buying locally.

    80% of purchases is Mexican coinage. Numimatic and semi, 2014 Libertad's *low mintage*. Live in Mexico, dealer sells UN PESO BU/AU for $8. Mexicans do not care for silver bars. $14.40 peso to the dollar right now, 2012/13 Libertad's with airtites at Banco Azteca, $20.50+-. Love Mexican silver coinage.

    @Hiddendragon

    They seem to be selling pretty consistently at around $12.50 (plus $2.50 shipping) on eBay.

    You know, I can't tell if it was originally P/L, but it does have some mirrored qualities. I did pick it up for that reason, though... Are there P/L varieties of these, or is it just an early strike? @bsowa1029

    @saltysam-1

    I picked these up at a LCS. One of the owners saves me foreign coins since he knows I'll spend a little money...or because I'm such a cool guy at times. ;) But yes, he said these were all from one person originally.

    Hardest decision I'm facing now is whether to keep any of them. I've already saved a few of the 1968 25 Pesos that have exceptional qualities, and a couple 1 Pesos, as well as a decent sized pile of 1800's and back silver (usually super low mintages.)

    For this reason, I'm thinking the 1896 8 Reales gets kept (for now, at least) as I don't think I have a better looking one. I'm also considering putting the 1938 #2 and 1940 #1 away for later...

    $12.50 total is about the max that I bid on them, and I've picked up several recently but can't seem to win the last few dates. Melt is about $6-$7 or so I believe.

  19. Is $12.50 a good price to pay for these. I looked up mintages and they are very high. I may need to put a set together.

    physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

    Yes, quite a few Mexican coins come in Prooflike condition. For example, here's one that NGC called 65 PL:

    Krause lists most of the pesos at bullion value in lower grades, and they have high mintages, but they never sell for near silver value on eBay. If you can find them at a local dealer though you might have more luck on that. One thing I've noticed about these coins is they are always in really nice shape. You just don't see heavy wear on them, so every one you see for sale is a nice grade. $12.50 is about what the market value is now. I'd like to pay less, but someone will always outbid you if you try.
