The third bust was identified as Julia Domna. It is much like the bust on this coin: Now for the fourth bust. The rules remain the same. Here is the fourth bust from the Palatine Museum. Please post a coin of the emperor (at least, who you think it is), but do not identify the emperor. (You may attribute your coin in every way but naming the person.) After a few replies I'll post the attribution from the museum and another bust from the Palatine Museum.
This is a fun thread, good job thinking of it. Away from my catalog at the moment so I will see what others guess. John
OBVERSE: ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, laureate head right REVERSE: PONTIF TRP VIIII COS II, Mars in military dress standing left leaning on shield holding reversed spear
Great game! This is a tougher one. I'll try someone else to make sure we have the territory covered. (That hair...) (Compare to @Finn235's post - like father, like son!)
The fourth bust was identified as this young man: The young Marcus Aurelius as Caesar. This coin has legend IVVENTAS (referring to the youthful prime of life), with Juventas standing left, dropping incense on candelabrum and holding patera. RIC 423. Now for the fifth bust. The rules remain the same. Here is the fifth bust from the Palatine Museum. Please post a coin of the emperor (at least, who you think it is), but do not identify the emperor. (You may attribute your coin in every way but naming the person.) After a few replies I'll post the attribution from the museum and another bust from the Palatine Museum.
