It's just such a wild reversal. Today we have the true view which is an extra cost add-on and the plastic is what's important
Didn’t some of the Anacs photocerts have coins in a Mylar holder stapled to the document? I get the photo matching concept but wouldn’t it be hard to match a 1980s photo with a blast white Iowa commem?
The images are 2.5" large format. They are in storage at the ANA museum. No clue what condition they are in, however. I think the certs are contact prints - tons of detail. There is s bustie for sale tonight on eBay and you can see the same triple ding left of the head (in the field) on the cert and today's photo (and that's from simple PC enlargement of the medium res listing photos). The coin was returned in a soft plastic bag inserted into a pvc flip (along with a note not recommending this for long term storage). I don't think they were stapled together as I have certs w/o staple holes. But certainly SOMEBODY frequently stapled them together as I have several. People also took the coin and put it in a Kointain/Airtite and then back into the flip. The bifold pleather holder you often see was purchased separately by the submitters - they could be ordered with foil stamping ("from the collection of Joe Blow" or "courtesy of Ima Coin Dealer"). Capital plastics made a series of holders with a cutout for the coin and room for the slab.
Thanks for the good info. I am enjoying learning more about these certs. I stand corrected on my previous assumptions.
@BlackBeard_Thatch was closest to the $175 price...you’re next... I'll pass it on to someone else, floor is open. I sadly don't have a cool holder as of now, just sold my only rattler and I regret it so much...
OK, let me try... NGC/HA auction records for PF70 are $587 (2016) -> 1540 (2014 auction)... PF69 runs about $33 (2014 auctions) Ultimate basement grader - https://web.archive.org/web/20080429224527/http://www.uscoingrading.com:80/ $6 per coin with quantity discounts! Looks like they were alive in 2007->2011.
I know USCG, and all they are is an auction house that will grade/slab a coin that is going into their auction. Typically, he (Corey) is off from 2 to 4 grades. That coin should have sold for about $25, but I'll guess it went for $40 + 18%, for a grand total of $47.20
OK... 24hrs so let's call it... @ddddd is closest $10 at the Grapevine coin show last weekend. Dealer bought it in a collection and didn't know what it was (even that it was silver since the slab doesn't say). Next up?

These are the dealers I'm still looking for as that was a great price! I mentioned earlier in this thread that an ebay seller told me they paid $3 for a Compugrade sample Kennedy! To top it off, they resold if for $75, missing out on the true value.
