That price is for Grade A Copper, not alloyed copper. At that price ($3.02) reclamation centers would only pay about 75c per pound (25%). You would be losing about 67c on every pound (142 pennies). Chris
Beyond me saying "who cares," let me also add how stupid this is if anyone thinks they'll make money from it. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/a-thought-for-your-pennies-they-are-not-investments
I'm just hoarding pocket change, it's not like I'm trying to grind out my mercury dime collection for its minuscule numismatic value or anything silly like that.
FWIW, on the CU forums quite a few years ago a member posted a photo of the nine 50-gallon trash cans he filled with copper Lincoln Memorial cents. I just hope that he doesn't live in sinkhole-prone Florida. Chris
Wow, good to know. I've been saving my copper and didn't realize that they paid that much less on alloy. I probably have 30 pounds. Looks like it's time to overload the coinstar machine.
That would be in South Florida @cpm9ball.... THATS where the Billiards Tables are not level so u can make it..........
