Gold is nice, but it’s hardly what I would call
affordable a 1/10 OZ will cost you just as
much as 10 OZ Silver bar, or you can do
    individual ASE,S as well.

No, 1/10ths are not worth the buy unless you buy from your LCS, and still the price of gold is too high right now. Incidentally when I went by my LCS a few days ago, best he could do on a 10 OZ. bar of Silver was $348 and change. I was shocked but he said, look around it will sell easily. :D I don't doubt it! I'm gonna go back over there, when I have more time to throw my rap! laughhard.gif

I would rather have a few pucks for that price.

My LCS charges the same as the big boys
so I guess they didn’t get the memo.

RCM silver bar is right around the 350's. Generics I see at 320-330.

This is exactly the reason I dont invest in " Boutique Bars " anymore, the question
why pay more for the same thing ? just because its a major brand, I would say
in the soft drink world yes a coke tastes better then a same club coke so of
course I will pay more for it, this is the same concept for people that buy or
get there bullion coins graded, just a waste....

Just curious what type of 10 ounce silver bar was that??
Generic bars or something else that has a collector premium?

I just watched a YouTube video from
    (bullion now)
a dealer in Australia and he recommended buying well known brands because they are more recognizable in other countries as you travel.

That would be the #1 reason to buy a recognized brand over generic and pay the premium if your looking for silver or gold.

Iam not traveling to Australia anytime soon
most of my silver does have an assay and
that’s good enough for me, I would use the
same analogy in reverse, there are allot of
fakes out there in the “Boutique Market “
both Englhard bars as well as JM Matthey
are faked more on the other side of the
    token.

Not sure if I agreed with you or not.
I like the term you coined boutique market :D
I considered them art bars but you threw in commercial bars into the mix now.
It all comes down to buy what you like and get the best price.

It really depends on what the purpose is
Investment or just plain cool, but the
cool items usually have a hefty price and
if your looking for investment that not always
    your best option

See there you go making sense again.
Dang your a hard read :p

    Pictures might help
Say this one at spot trumps a generic bar at spot:D

If at spot yes, but again most of the time
your going to pay more, investors 101

Thin pickings lately without some sort of premium.
I got time and other things to spend money on.
