I'm wondering why they even bother having officials. What they are doing as officials is a travesty of justice and a stain on the game. I only watched the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter and OT, and wondered if Stevie Wonder was yelling at his TV.

Whaa...try this instead. Balance the coin to be tested on the tip of your first finger. Tap the edge lightly with another coin and listen for the ring. Or: Hold the coin lightly between your thumb and first finger, blow your breath hard on the edge of the coin and bring it to your ear and listen for the ring. If the dimensions of the coin are correct and it is the correct weight, the density is correct and it is either the real thing, or a darn good fake.

All my stuff is current year Gov. mint issued bullion via Apmex. My ASE and Fiji Takus ring identical (strong). The others (Maples, philharmonics, somalia elephants, etc) don't ring as strong (similar but not as sustained, etc). Digital scale has these all within a low of 31.2g to 31.5g range. Digital calipers have some measuring exact dead on to maybe 40.58mm for a Koala instead of 40.60mm. I doubt Apmex would be selling 2013 fakes since they get them straight from the Mints. I'm not concerned.

I tried it on a GSM St Gaudens I just got and it sounds like the ASE in your video.

How is the size of the St Gaudens compared to an ASE, slightly smaller?
