While silver is selling for about 1/3 of it's all time high price of near $50 an ounce in 1980 ... So I can see the argument that silver has more upside as a percent basis. </p><p><br /></p><p>What you could do is buy half and half ... buy a smaller American Eagle Gold coin (say the 1/2 ounce coin) ... with the other half of your money buy either American Silver Eagles or circulated Franklin Halfs.
