Silver getting crushed today

During October 1979 the inflation adjusted price of silver was north of $50 and Fed Funds interest rates were north of 10%, reaching around 20% due to Fed Chairman Volcker's successful effort to dampen inflation. (Source: macrotrends.net). So the connection between interest rates and PMs is not as simple as many would have us believe, IMHO.

whoa.....16.50 well I guess slow the roll then.. 2 weeks.... a little longer........ maybe........... the inflation adjustment.....I got nothing.........but what Gilbert said.. but that's not recent enough for me..

let see how much of a PM reduction gets baked into the spot price and how much shock any interest rate hike would impact it on the day of/day after.

Heck I will take $ 16.50. I am no economic expert but lately it seems Silver and Gold take a hit and then it is on the upswing again. Don't get me wrong I too like low silver prices as well but eventually the market will re-balance itself.

 

$16.50 is the last time I bought.

 

Let's face it, it has nothing to do with precious metals, but instead is the USD. And the USD is in limbo until the fed rate, US budget ( if ever), insurance, etc. get settled at least to 80-90% before one can depend on a little more stability. There is no big change in the increase or demand, Political events ( which I can't discuss of course) is now playing the greatest effect on the USD in my opinion. If China didn't have as big problems as us, they would probably be pushing to change the basket ratio.

Ok, so silver has dropped around $1.20 since February 28th. Time to wait and hold for me.

 

If they release the silver Krugerrand next week maybe the premium won't be so ambitious if silver is falling?

$19.20 for 20 each 2016 ASE from apmex right now. Hopefully will go lower.

 

I believe spot will, not sure about the 2016 ASE. $2.10 over is pretty good though.

Don't hold your breath for the Krugerrand release. Way to long for me to purchase it on the available date, instead I am purchasing the New Queens Beast Dragon 1oz Silver coin. This will be the first series I actually will have the entire set.
