I decided to build myself a collection of nice, AU and higher, of Peace Dollars. They're silver and pretty I've been debating it for a while. With another thread about some one wanting to buy 100 Peaces, I took a look at the Peaces and ASEs and even though ASEs for the pure bullion player is a much better value, I have so many ASEs and so few Peaces. I stopped collecting ASEs after I completed my 1986 - Current (though missing 2018) of ASEs. I think I'll do the same now for one of my favorite designs, the Peace Dollar. @abuckmaster147 @LA_Geezer
Peace Dollars frustrate me a little. The common dates are so easy to find even in top condition, but the tougher dates are usually pretty rough looking.
Anyone know how big the slab is for the 5oz ATBs? I just saw a picture of one graded/slabbed. Having a few of the ATBs I would think they're the size of a small iPad. These are seriously large slabs for a 3 inch wide coin.
Peace Dollars are insanely over spot. Please post your experiences selling them to coin shops. Has anyone recouped anything close to the $3 or $4 premium they paid on common dates and avg circulation condition?
Is there an investing thread? LOL .. gonna vent for a second .. not at anyone on CT .. I own SQ stock. Started buying it ages ago. There's this yahoo company BTIG who bought options at $30 back when it was $47. Then after buying the options they come out with a statement how it's overvalued, blah blah blah. So it falls to $41ish. But it's been going up ever since. They came back today with a statement again how it's over valued and put a 12 mth price of $30 on it. Oh yeah, self promoting there so they don't lose their BIG bet they made a long time ago. I think they bought that big bet from another company that created those options at $30 but decided to get out of it (for good reason). The yahoo's at BTIG just ignore the financials, and give only partial information and make their statement .. it's only worth $30 a share .. it's at $66 right now; +$2 today so they're ignoring that statement !! Reminds me of Ackman who bought low options of Herbalife and then came out saying Herbalife was a fraud, fake books and a ponzi scheme .. or something like that. Over the past years they had to buy into stocks going UP, and shed the bad options to try and minimize their overall loss. I don't understand why this isn't considered something like insider trading. That's all ... back to silver, Peace .. the dollar kind !!
What I don’t get is the tendency of CNBC to allow a stock shorter to get on TV and announce he is shorting a stock. What do you suppose the stock does after that, thus making the shorter money?
Unlike Warren Buffett who gets on the air and says, "Oh, by the way, I've been buying the bejabbers out of Apple stock for months now."
Grrr. I missed out on a nice 1928 P a few months ago, because the guy wouldn't ship to the US from the UK. He didn't know what he had and it sold for like $30. It looked good/authentic in the pics (AU-MS) and he had good feedback. Was worth a shot for the price. C'est la vie. I still have my decent, but probably cleaned, one. Nothing a month or 2 of carrying it around as a pocket piece won't fix The 1921 in my set, though? Yeah, I don't think anything will erase the scrub lines from that coin, lol.
==> A complete MS67 set for melt ? Nice (or not ) article about Platinum ==> https://www.marketwatch.com/story/n...ces-offer-a-better-value-than-gold-2018-07-06 I had not realized PLT was WAY UP THERE in 2008-9. But due to the D I sold my PLT in 2009. If I had watched the market at all I should have sold it 12 months earlier. wow, amazing. Right now, per that article, it seems they have a Bullish stance on Platinum based upon their metrics … which the market seems to ignore lately. GOLD SILVER Can't wait for Monday ?!?!
