I thought coin machines rejected silver quarters. Not that I have ever tested that.
Too bad if you're trying to spend them or cash them in for face value, I guess. It's great if you're receiving them in your change, or better yet finding them in the reject slot of the CoinStar or self-checkout.
Yes, the machines do reject them. Maybe not always, but often enough that I find them there a couple of times a year -- a lot more than I find them in normal change.
