I agree one side is a fairly nice coin. However, for the same money people can buy fairly attractive two sided coins. Still, its bullion. As such its main purpose is to be recognizable purity and quality of pm. In that it serves its purpose.
The reason a lot of people stay away from them is the milk spotting issue. It's still silver, but many just don't like milk spots so they don't buy them.
Sorry they are Idiots, unless you've got some piece beyond... super rare, super vauluble just look into milk spotting on This site, go from there...
My 2 cents. Received first Maple Leaf yesterday. The coin is prettier than I expected. No milk spots so far. I encapsulated the coin and put into a safe. My one disappointment is that there were scratches on the face of the Queen.
Yeah, these were first batch of bullion I bought. Scratches on Queen face seems pretty common. Initially, I swore I'd never buy any more Maples. However, if the price is good, I would probably take these over most generic rounds. I like the coin quality... on close inspection, it doesn't look a cheap private mint jobbie. I guess I tend to prefer govt. minted stuff.
I agree with you 100%. Maple Leafs over generic rounds any day of the week. I actually like the finish of the Maple Leafs a lot and my only criticism has been the aforementioned scratches. But, for a few bucks more, I'll take a Mexico Libertad. Winged Victoria beats the old Queen hands down in the beauty department.
