I have a few older cents that I am starting to worry about. They are enclosed in 2 inch by 2 inch clear plastic holders with foam inserts to hold each cent. Age range is
middle 1800 to early 1900. I checked them yesterday and noticed a few that had
black / brown spots on them here and there, well the spots are turning green.I have to believe they are starting to rot. What should I do to remove the green crap?

Cleaning in the traditional sense will not work. What you need to do is neutralize the oxidation with Verdi-Care.

This product is made by a member on this very forum: https://www.cointalk.com/members/badthad.17261/.

It has become a bit difficult to find on third-party sites due to supply issues but I'd send this user a message and see if you can work out a deal with him directly.

Yep, get some VerdiCare that's the best option on verdigris! ;)
