The low-ish price is probably because it's not .999, it's .894... Still a decent price tho, too bad I don't have $312,000 just sitting around waiting for something to invest in lol...
Bars are weird. To me, that is a $70K premium versus melt. I would think its on the high side. On things such as this, I would never add the premium into the melt value to get X per ounce, since its kind of two separate things. Now, for a $20,000 premium it would be a cool piece. Edit, good catch btw @William F , its a $94k premium over melt. Point is, these large gold bars have a large melt component of value regardless how cool they are. That is separate from the premium for what a cool thing it is. In other words, the same bar weighing 10 ounces less should cost the same minus the value of 10 ounces of gold, not proportionately the same per ounce.
