With the banning of members, I think that those of you who've been around a while do realize that we're very slow to ban. Well, we're fast to ban the spammers, but slow to ban a member who's sometimes crossing the line. Generally, we'll give a person warnings, try to work with them to help them to integrate into the community and standards we set. But, when we realize that the person isn't going to work with us, we will be decisive. I just don't want people thinking that when I say "crack down" that it means we're going to start banning folks left and right. And, if we do tighten up the rules, we wouldn't retroactively punish anyone, that wouldn't be fair at all.

I kind of like that idea. The software does have a feature where we can set up an access mask which would prevent an individual from posting in specific sections, but I don't think it allows us to do it on a per-thread level. In theory, I can see situations where we could use that, but in practice I think we're all mature enough to use some self-control when it comes to things like this, and that those who don't have self-control are generally not going to behave themselves no matter what section they're allowed into.
