I think they were monetized by a mix of silver content & spot price and also what the casino wanted at the time. I could be wrong though.

I hate sp check, it changes words that it doesn't recognize which is sooooo frustrating, I'm a hillbilly, I don't WANT my posts sounding like Yankee talk!!

Four Queens in Las Vegas still has about 3 of these machines with .999 silver strikes mixed in with non silver strikes. I heard there is probably 20 non silver for every silver one in the machine.

Here are two I own. Like others, I sold many when silver was high. Only it's finess is indicated, no mention of weight. None of the silver ones equaled their redeemable value as silver verses cash at the cage. That's what Las Vegas calls the house advantage. I have over 300 chips in my collection. I don't bother to post any more because we have very few members who collect them. Just go into exonumia under the coin chat forum. I posted many pictures about one to two years ago. None of the chips are duplicates. The majority of these casinos I have played in. My most recent non-U.S. came from Wiesbaden Germany last year when I was there. The U.S. one's are mostly from Las Vegas. P1010730.JPG

I have a couple dozen silver strikes and have a few other odd rare casino pieces you don't see very often.

I also don't believe in the asking prices on eBay. It's ignorant flippers asking unfounded prices for chips way over value. This you see in chips at or over $25 dollars in betting value. We are not stupid but the sellers are. There are more unsold listings (percentage wise) than in currency. I love it when we can screw them, even with a no sale.

That's cool. I jumped off the stratosphere. Fun times

That is amazing. You actually jumped off the building?

Yup. It's around 870 feet I believe. Nothing like the adrenaline rush of skydiving but fun nonetheless. As you're on the plank ready to step off every movie you've ever seen of someone jumping off of a skyscraper rushes through your mind.

Very gutsy. I have a mild case of vertigo. Just walking out on the plank would probably trigger it.

That was the second best part. The feeling of having to control fear is great if you overcome it and made the jump all the more thrilling

My hat is off to you. A much better man in control of his fears than I. I would probably scream more than half the way down. Then pass out. :>)

Here's my newest and possibly more scarce than the OP one. I can't find a match on EBay, although I know people that hoard these and would NEVER sell them. So who knows how many are actually out there. IMAG2573_1.jpg
Oh and btw, most of these $40 tokens are 1.5 or 1.7 oz of silver. Most dealers don't know this, so IF you find one, you can buy them for waaaaaay under melt. I paid $20 for this one and it melts for $35ish.... I've even paid $10 for a $40 token once that weighed in at 1.5 oz:cigar::cigar::cigar:

IMAG2578_1.jpg This one is in a colored capsule (yellow)which is called a chaser strike. I guess colored capsules have lower mintages than the clear capsule strikes. That makes sense because I've never seen a colored one in person until now.

I never realized the weight was more then one ounce. I thought it would be less than an ounce. You can't put them on a scale and tell, too much non silver in the round. Where did you find your information?
