I have a question about 2012 ASE versions. Coin world said there's 7 versions including 2 uncirculated 2 bullion 2 proof and a reverse proof. I get everything but the uncirculated. I own the w unc. But what is the other one? The web said something about a s unc. But I can't find it. Any help would be much help. Anyone d looking at these old posts. Also all price guides only have one unc. Listed. I'm thinking it was a misprint at this point
Hi Trevor. You are talking about the elusive 'S' s-less bullion coin. San Fran strikes bullion coins along with the West Point mint. Both bullion examples lack a mint mark, hence, no way to determine which mint they originated from. However, folks with deep pockets can purchase 'monster boxes' which will display the mint of origin upon them. All that needs to be done is to have the deep pockets guy submit the entire monster box to one of the TPG'ers and that's how they get the San Francisco designation......albeit, without the 'S'. Save your money. Don't buy into the hype. Just a humble opinion here but a coin without a mint mark is a coin without a mint mark, and as such, lacks provenance. Even if the TPG'ers say so. I don't buy it and neither should anyone else. Mom was from Missouri, so ya gotta show me, and that means placing a mint mark on the coin. Anything else is just poker chips.......
Thanks green ya a bullion stole is a bullion strike. I consider a complete set with only one owned. Plus I wouldn't have the money either although you could probably get a single graded from both mints it's not worth it to me either
I take out the hand engraver and slap a big S on the front side. That way I can put them back in the right box on poker night. (No sarcasm here)
