As I've just received my first 2016 puck (Shawnee), I thought it was a good time to update the mintage versus market value dataset and chart. As I use the completed sales in ebay as my market value, I must say that it is much better to sell the pucks using the "Buy Now" option. You can usually get a better price and folks seem to be biting. Some of the pucks do not seem to be available often, which may be the reason. Of the five remaining pucks still available for sales at the mint, only the Homestead is "In Stock" with the rest in a "Currently Unavailable" status. The sales of the Bombay Hook and the Saratoga act like sell outs with only other men's junk going out to customers. The Shawnee is already unavailable after the first week of sales. The Hawaii and Acadia have minimal sales lately but appear to be coming back down to earth; albeit slowly. I'm still fully convinced they will make another run of Shawnee P. The sales were too strong and the mint makes more $ with the unc versions. If I'm wrong, crap, as I passed on it but I doubt I am.
The words "brilliant" and "the mint" should never be used together in the same sentence Unless we're talking about a coins finish that is
U S Mint running low on silver ! http://mintnewsblog.com/2016/03/u-s-mint-running-low-on-silver-and-gold-numismatic-inventory/
WOW! As of today's sales report only 15,790 Shawnees sold. So, that's all they made? I thought they'd go to at least 17k.
Seems people are debating whether Shawnee is done or not. Reality is that nobody knows, probably not even the Mint. Prices are already starting to increase on the bay though for even ungraded.
Maybe, but, I think past history is they have never made more P-Pucks when they are in currently unavailable status, even though they are well under the stated mintage.
Sure but I charge $50k an hour so you would need to put it to better use than whether or not the mint will issue more of a particular series
Pcgs has a new Mercanti signed first day of issue label. 2016-P 5oz Silver ATB SHAWNEE PCGS SP70 First Day of Issue Mercanti FDI
Only 5 oz ATB P pucks left on US Mint site are Homestead and Shawnee. Others have been removed. I am going to start checking their site every morning in case any Shawnee pucks become available.
I would say that the Kisatchie, Bombay Hook, and Saratoga are sold out but I wouldn't be surprised if they reappear in a couple of days. The mint loves to keep us in suspense.
A friend on another forum returned a Shawnee P puck and his order for replacement says "on back order"... Looks like more are on the way to the delight of some and the chagrin of others
My order for 2 saratogas placed on 2/3/16 said processing for the first 3 weeks or so then around March 1st it went to backorder then Tuesday I got a email from the mint saying it was cancelled. So far, in all my years of buying from the mint I have never received anything once it went to backorder.
