Yeah, even if I gave the guy a ten dollar tip every day, it wouldn't matter when it comes to my P.O. Box. I bought that thing for the sake of security, lot of good that did. The guy at the USPS office says it should be there Monday. I'm thinking no. Good thing Provident gets insurance on their packages; I'm hoping I can get it replaced or receive a refund.
I'm thinking and hoping that your thinking is wrong. I've had packages go awol for a week and still arrived intact. Sometimes things get messed up, but I'm willing to bet that you'll get this package.
The post office can go to ****. They say they left a slip in my box on the website, but they didn't; they say the package is at the post office on the site's tracking system, but it's not (so they say at the post office anyway.) If it's lost I have to wait three more weeks to file a claim and possibly get my money back. Provident seems like a great company, but I'm not doing this again. The USPS is costing businesses customers with their pathetic standards of service.
If they say they left a slip, go to your PO man. Go there and claim the package. I agree with Topcat. I tip my carrier each Christmas, and last year got a nice note back saying he appreciates delivering my unusual mail. He drives around and leaves in my back door any odd sized packages so they won't get wet, also saving me a trip to the PO for oversized packages. A little generosity goes a long way, especially with so few being generous nowadays.
I've already been to the front at the post office, and also to the distribution center just across the street. They say they don't have it back there either. God knows where it is. I live in a large city, so it might be stuck at the main USPS office downtown. I'm very generous when I tip, but I never even get to see my mailman, since I'm always at work or at something else away from home when he arrives. I'm not sure how I should tip him then. Leave some money taped to the inside of my mailbox?
Leave a envelope addressed to MAIL CARRIER in your mailbox. I usually have it the only thing in the box that day, and write him a check but leave the name blank. I am not saying this will help your current situation, but people remember those who are good to them, and its just human nature to help out a "friend" versus all of the others who don't think about them, you know?
All Provident said was that they would file an insurance claim if the package didn't show up within thirty days. Fortunately, now I know where the package is: at that distribution center where they claimed they didn't have it. I finally got through to a human on the USPS help line and got this information. The trick is getting the package, because the people there don't seem willing to even bother looking for it. I scheduled a redelivery to my own house. Not sure about the odds of it actually getting here on that date. I feel bad for having filled up the thread with my shipping problems, but this was my first online purchase and probably my last. I think I'll just stick with the coin show and the occasional eBay auction.
