Would I comb through a year's worth of my own waste for $13? No. No, I would not.

More practically, it's hard for me to imagine any recovery process that would generate profit at those levels. $13/yr is certainly a lot less than I pay for sewer service, with only the most conventional waste treatment.

You've misunderstood the story. Any profit is not for you, it's for the processors.

And we can't even recycle water effectively. Golden Fleece nominee.

"So far, the group has collected waste from several small towns in the Rocky Mountains, rural areas, and big cities.".

Did they keep human sludge separate from runoff water , snow meltage? I guess this shows that there is a lot of gold and PM in the Rocky Mtns. Maybe someone should try mining in that area.

Perhaps someone should point these folks in the direction of bars and nightclubs where copious amounts of Goldschläger may be drunk and expelled one way or another.... :yuck::hungover:

Oh, that's pretty clear. My point is that those processors probably wouldn't reclaim enough PM via this processing technique to profit from it. It sounds a bit like the old "extracting gold from seawater" idea -- you can do it, it's just that it's orders of magnitude cheaper to simply buy gold.

Well, we'll know if it becomes profitable when the 'cash for gold' guys start sending us mailers........
