As far as I know the Sacajawea coins metal content is worth less than the face value, but I was only using that as a reference. Before you go asking about them, make sure the coins you're looking for are still considered in circulation. Not sure, but I believe Morgan Dollars would be something you'd have better luck finding in a coin shop than a bank.

Ahh.. I see, that does make a good amount of sense though. So when people say they went to the bank to buy rolls of half dollars, hoping that some turn out to be silver, which coins are they purchasing from the bank that are still in circulation? Or was this just something some people used to do?

I think it's a very small group of people that do it, but I know of people that do. It's just to get the highest value coins, bu the problem is because of these people and the mints highlighting certain coins for removal from circulation that it is very rare to find these coins now. It IS possible, just not as likely as it would have been about 10 years ago.

It is fun (I do it) but it really is not worth the average persons time. Because 99% of all the Pre 1964 coins were already taken out of circulation. But it is a fun hobby.

It's quite unfortunate that that's the case. None the less, I will be keeping my eye out on all my change for pre-1982 pennies and the silver quarters.

I know with silver you can use a strong magnet with it because it's not magnetic. Is copper the same way? If it is can you use the same magnet technique to seperate through the pennies quicker?
    Thanks

Well, this is the point wherein I get jealous of those people who had their old pennies,..
