What happened to 1944-P, 1944-D, 1944-S, and 1945-P?

I thought this thread was posting nickels in order by date.

 

Sorry folks. I hit the wrong coin in my photo file. I’m pulling that one to get things back on track.

 

In order by date, daily, brings us to...

(Whatever else gets posted during the day is OK by me - my goal is to hit the next coin. Although I may quibble with whether a -P comes before or after a -D. I'm keeping Philadelphia first for these war nickels.)​

My extra coin doesn't match the overall style of the Dansco, so it's just a colorful spare.

Umm, you seriously need to take that 1944-P out of your Dansco and have it graded. It looks like a no brainer MS67 with a very real chance at FS which would make it worth thousands. I think it is every bit as nice as mine.

 

Well, that would definitely pay for the Dansco, the coins it contained, and all the other Jefferson proofs to boot. Your photo is gorgeous, by the way.

NGC green label no line. MS 66
This coin is very bright, also a minor DDO. The photos aren't the best but it has quite a few slab scratches.

Edit: Here is a closeup of that planchet crack on Jefferson's collar. I would think it was a scratch except for the broader shallow depression at top right. That, and the lack of any pushed-up metal you would get from gouging the coin, make me think the pit and the line were in the planchet. They would have been closed somewhat by the force of striking but not eradicated.

The fortunate alignment with the crease in the collar helps it to look like part of the design.

 

Earlier I posted some photos of the nickels in their slots in the album. I did not show the War Nickel group - they were all popped out waiting to be photographed.

Here are these nickels in context. The first one is nickel, of course, and the rest are silver. I am unsure if any two have the exact same color.
