You can't use bullion as home decor or make tea with it.

Sensibly bought, you can accumulate handsome and useful sterling objects for less than the retail price of most bullion objects.

The single spoon is over 300 years old so it's not really bullion material. Although it is 950 Britannia silver.

Ok guys, I have been on hiatus for a while. Before time, I was semi bit by the bug as I think I only owned 80ozt of silver in various shapes and sizes. When I decided to take interest in silver again I went nuts. I could not believe it was down to 15 dollars an ounce so I decided now was the right time to buy in again. Now I think I need an intervention because I just can not turn it off! Anywho, within the past week I have purchased over 200ozt so I added it to a few more of my things, let ne know what you guys think. As for me, I buy silver and dont try to get caught up in label wh*ring. I stay away from eagles as the premium is just too much for me to swallow. I do have some eagles laid out here in the pictures but these were purchased for 15 bucks a pop when silver was 15.79, thanks to a guy @ the "buy gold and silver" place by my house. Hes allergic to coins and just wants jewelry or bullion so he wasnt to hip on premiums. Alot of this was picked up @ spot or a little higher due to him and I could just not pass it up.

    P.S.

I am putting a decent set of franklins together, If anyone has some clean doubles laying around in ms65fbl or ms64fbl blast, I would be interested in parting with some dough to get some nice ones. Oh, I also am starting a Walker set, im thinking in vf-xf for yrs under '41 (already have a ms64-65 short set) any recommendations on the series or specific coins would be greatly appreciated. I love the design the most out of most us coinage but am just not versed enough on the series! Oh well, here goes nothing!

Well I have been in the buying mood for a while so yesterday I picked up my first gold coin! Nothing fancy, got it for 600. 20150901_190336.jpg 20150901_190402.jpg

Im not really a gold guy, but it looks damn sexy in coin form.

So as I hit my lcs, I bought another $100 face of halves and $100 face of quarters, also finally gave in and picked up my 32-d and 32-s to finish of the silver quarter set. Im definitely not happy with the 32-s (looks like someone took some abrasive to it) but it was all he had and it will plug the hole til I find a much better replacement. The 32-d is a little bit worn for my taste also but a hole plugger til I run across better. Anyway, I took the 10 dollar gold into him and had him look at it because I suspected it had been cleaned (which is what I thought when I purchased it, and was fine with) and never had a cleaned coin in my posession.

As we were talking, I asked him if he had any gold to sell, and he says "I dont sell my gold! I buy it and keep it" after 30mins of bugging him, I finally got him to sell me my 1st 1 ounce coin. Again, I am really not into gold coins @ this point in time but they are awesome looking pieces and a lot more meatier in your hand compared to seeing pictures of them on ebay and here. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and I might start studying gold coins soon as i might want more!

I almost forgot yesterday I stopped @ the bank and picked up some money (bought 19 eagle set from a craigslist kid needing cash) and the teller had 2 halves in her tray. I spotted the silver behind the clad half immediately, i just didnt think it would have been what it turned out to be. So I asked for the 2 halves and handed her a dollar, put them in my pocket and walked to the car. As I get into the car I pull them out and lo and behold, here sits this beauty. I was stunned that this was even in the bank uncirculated and all. I went home and put it in a 2x2.

Alright Im done for now! I have been posting a lot of this stuff because I remember when I was into all this yrs ago, I loved looking @ piles of silver coins and other peoples hoards! Hopefully someone else appreciates the pictures as much as I did of others on this board, hell I still lurk on this topic just for that reason. Anyway I would love to see some more cool pick ups guys! Enjoy!

here is my very small silver bullion hoard. it is kept in a "sure safe" container (holds 20). I am a small time buyer of silver 1 oz'ers. maybe 1 a pay check. on the right side are my newest 6 Australian 2016 kangaroo 1 ouncers I got at my last coin show at the Westgate Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.. I really enjoy looking at them. I think I over heard that they have an anti-counterfeit thing on them ??? I would like to know more about that if any one knows more about it. the others are pictured. in the container I also have 2 ASE's and 1 Canadian maple leaf. pics were done on my cheap phone.... so sorry for the focus quality but you get the general idea of what I have.

Post away I'd say. As long as you are not flogging for it.

A bit too digitally magnified but - the A in the A from the Kangaroo:

It is a really nice coin and I'm pleased with it. The Perth Mint usually delivers.

And another silver buy. I really like the UK Lunar 'Year of the Monkey Coin' also:

I like these for two reasons... the first is that the company that struck them was an investment scheme where you were to buy in to the mining and minting operation for 5k and you would get your initial investment plus gains back in 3 yrs or something like that but you would also get annual "dividends" back in the form of these coins. Look them up, I may be slightly off on specifics but I know I'm close.
And second is that it's 99999 and the designs aren't half bad

Scuffs are on the capsules of coarse

@green18 what kind of camera/lens do you have to take these nice looking photos? I just bought a nikon d5300 a few months ago but I believe I have a 18-145 (dont quote me until I look) lens with it, I cant come close to the detailed images you post!

Mine's a D810 and that shot (as with all of my shots now) was taken with an AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED.
