I am new to buying and collecting silver bars. I have been thinking about buying a old wooden chest or possibly having my uncle make me one to store them in. Are there any things I should be concerned about when buying a wooden chest? I don't want to buy something that may tarnish and give off chemicals that will react with the silver. The box I am looking at buying is lined with felt on the inside. I am not sure of the adhesive used or if there was one used. It is a old antique pirate wood chest that looks very cool which is why I am interested in it. If I go the route of having my uncle build one, I am looking at lining the box with an anti-tarnish silver cloth.
Not sure if you were replying to me but here is where I found the Cloth. Not sure if I am allowed to post this link, I don't sell this nor am I promoting it. Just stumbled upon when searching for ideas of making a wooden chest to store silver. http://www.amazon.com/Tarnish-Free-Silver-Cloth-Anti-tarnish/dp/B001OQU0YU
I got something like this. It was thick enough to fit one tray inside, possibly two if your woodworking skills are better than mine. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLAIN-WOO...UK_Antiques_Woodenware_RL&hash=item25803d04b2
