Old Barbary Coast, 1973, United States Silver Corp, Kidd-USSC 199a Reverse-Mammy Pleasant's House Of Pleasure [ At least until you were Shanghaied]
I found this at the coin store a couple of weeks ago. I got it for a couple of reasons. It was priced near bullion. It is large, over one ounces (1.1540 oz ASW). The Churchill portrait was tolerable. The coin is denominated as 20 crowns; and is also payable in US Dollars, commonly at 1:1 on the islands. Mintage was just 268,000.
Here are 20 Silver Eagles in air tites. Just took the pics today for the for sale ad and thought they would be nice to share. Nothing like a row of silver coins protected in air tites.
This is all my silver I've purchased in the last couple of weeks. Junk, Canadian and Bullion. What do you think?
A 100k is laughable today. But it was a big deal back then. This is the Hydeman piece that was bought by World Wide Coin Investments in a deal brokered by Abe Kosoff. It's also the "Hawaii Five-O coin." Worldwide was also listed on the OTC. Kidd WWM-53 issued 1974.
Part of me like it and the other part HATE IT. I open it up and drop the damn thing and scratch the queen side of the coin. Been bummed out ever since so I haven't bought anything in months...lol
