You know those big balls are lead right?

 

Shopped the melt tray this morning.

 

No, they are Sterling / coin melt mix. Purchased from a jeweler the late 60's by my father. Mostly bench scrap melted down. They HAD a nice patina on them until a friend of a relative thought they could "improve" them with a little TarnX.

They've been scratch tested and come in above .900 silver. I need to find a local assayer to rend them down and purify them.

You should XRF them, get the print out and stamp the purity/weight on the flat spot.

One of our family friends had some die cast cars poured from scrap rings.

 

Agreed. I need to find someone local with one of those.

Overpaid a bit like mpcusa
Allengelhard.com shows it's 1 of 25, so low mintage and it's got some character on the back.

 

LCS had NO bullion, so I picked up some Morgan's and Rosies.

got the 2021 version to go with the 1 OZ
Gold version that will be here in a couple
of days.

 

I got a decent deal on this but why is there such a premium on non collectible bullion?

 

Geiger is just super nice and has anti counterfeit features. Personally I think RCM is a better bang for your buck or Pamp Suisse
