That's a "wish" cent!....................you make a wish & throw it into the nearest body of water you can find...the deeper the better.
Do I have anything here, guys? 1974 Lincoln D. I know '74 is when they made the ten aluminum pennies for Congress but I have yet to weight it (found it today). I have a total of one day of research done into coin collecting but I'm not going to lie, I'm hooked. Going through old change, I have about 10-12 cool pieces now, all valuable, some for monetary reasons and others for sentimental reasons. This Lincoln is the only one I can't really pin down whether or not I've got something good. Anyway, I know '74 was an odd year for pennies but all the help is much appreciated!
Hello, me again. Got another one. Lincoln 1982 No mint mark. Confirmed copper with 'drop test' (getting a scale later). However, I know the '82-D small dates are crazy rare. This is not a Denver minted piece but does it scrounge some value?
1967 marked the third, and final, year where the mint produced only Special Mint Sets in lieu of proofs. The 1965 and 1966 examples I have just don't look very special, but they are better than the business strikes. This one is better. It looks like the workers forgot they weren't making proofs that year. It just doesn't show any of the planchet roughness of the 1966 SMS (post #5358), for example.
1982P copper, sorry it's worth 1 cent. These were EXTREMELY high mintage and not worth collecting unless in high-grade, mint state condition like this:
You have a "spender", it's worth 1 cent. As with the 1982, these are only worth anything in high-grade, mint state like this one:
@BadThad, those are some nice 1967's! With 1968 the Mint restarted the Proof program. The minting of proofs was moved to the San Francisco mint, so these proofs also premiere the S mint marks for proofs. These are the first S cents since 1955.
I probably should replace this 1969 proof, but I like the color. But that blob on the reverse looks terminal to me.
Isn't this die doubling versus machine doubling? I know the coin isnt in great shape but is this what we are looking for in general? -Scott
