That list is a bit out dated. If you don't have it them there are better sites out there with clear photos. http://varietyvista.com/index.htm and https://doubleddie.com/
How about this for a pocket change find ?! https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1982-lmc-ddo.411060/ Terrific find @Mark1971 ! A find like this can really encourage others to examine their change jars, bowls, and car cup holders!
Here’s an interesting question - have you ever received a $2 bill in change? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/another-interesting-change-find.411053/ Growing up I worked in a restaurant where we had to cash out the drawers periodically and tally the earnings. I would get there about 2:30 each weekday. I broke several laws trying to get there on time after the 2:12 bell. Often I would have the 11:00 and 2:00 drawers to count. The boss would remind me that I had to have them counted for 5:00 and 8:00 replacements. Most of the cooks saw this as a penalty. Not me. I would find silver and LWCs routinely. Someone was spending a bunch of coins from a collection. In addition, I found several $1 and $5 silver certificates. And a few red seal $2 bills. Never a 1976 series note, but 1963 as I recall. Anyway, I never got a $2 bill in change but I have plucked them from circulation (circa 1984).
Was visiting my son this weekend. Got a early Jeff nickel in change. Good to see the "oldies" are still circulating.
Now...if that had been a DDR...you'd really be whistling!! Fun find. Have a look at the S in PLURIBUS. If it has a serif, it's the expected RDV. If it does not, you have the 1938 RDV (which was used into 1939 before being replaced). 38 reverse increases the value of a 1939 by about 10x.
Something I’ve noticed over the years is that the stretch from November to May tend to be richer in finds. I speculate but I’ve always attributed that to folks cashing in their coin jars and whatnot pay for Christmas and post Christmas bills. Hopefully this remains the case.
Got the quarter from change machine at laundromat and got the nickel in change from Taco Bell, same day. The E in quarter is a weak strike
From change received at CVS - Heard it in the mix of change. Only wished I had another prescription to fill.
The prescription I picked up the other day was "free" (covered in full by my insurance). I had thought that was a good thing.
Normally so. I was a little surprised to pay but $2.89 isn’t cause for alarm. A dime and a shield cent. The silver made up for it.
I was in the pickup line unfortunately. Otherwise I would have. I did wonder about the other tills in the way to the front though.
