Please tell me if my "new" gold coins have real problems, or it's all in my head?

    fisch scales are an expensive solution to a simple problem

    calipers and scale probably costs $30 total and can test everything.

    Totally agree. I have all of the above, and personally would rather lug around a tiny Fisch scale - but you are absolutely correct: the Fisch scale is just a tool to make things easier (more convenient). There are - as with essentially all tools - cheaper alternatives. If you can't afford it, digital calipers, EXACT DIMENSIONS and a cheap digital scale (make sure it has .01g accuracy) will do the trick. The fact that the OP stores 1/10 oz AGEs in dime rolls (read: volume) leads me to suspect that it may be worthwhile to invest in a Fisch.

    Here's a pic of the digital micrometer I have. I think I picked it up in Lowe's for something like $20-25. You can get a pocket digital scale (remember - you need .o1g accuracy) for under $20 on eBay.
