You are CORRECT Sir! :thumb: For anyone interested in returning coins to the Mint for replacement, Joe knows what he's talking about. If you do it his way, you don't have to worry about getting the same coins back (or similarly bad coins from a PO'ed Mint worker). This also effectively gets you around the seven (7) day deadline. Thanks for sharing, Joe!
Yes...thanks! I got a little confused when I hit the phrase "mutually exclusive"...I don't do well with more than two syllables at a time!
I decided to hang on to them both (as a matched set) and see what Coin World has to say. I sent them a letter (email) the other day...asking them if they could find out any information about First Spouse die preparation, numbers of dies, etc. I'm curious to know if everyone is getting coins like this. Coin World is pretty good about contacting the Mint and finding these things out. They published my last letter and even got a "canned" response from the Mint's Consumer Affairs Dept (that's more than I could have hoped for!). I think it would be interesting to know if the Mint is only using one set of dies and everyone is getting Unc coins with the same die "anomolies". Could add to the saga that is the "First Spouse Series". :hail:
Only way to really solve this problem is to buy a MS70/69 graded coin and compare the two. Then you will have your answer.
You seen any on the Bay? Edit: I just checked and saw my first one! They say they only have two (2) available.
Yep - here are two, but there were many more. http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-W-JANE-PIERCE-First-Spouse-Gold-G-10-NGC-MS70-X65-/140419604915?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item20b1a921b3#ht_500wt_1154 http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-W-Jane-Pierce-10-Gold-PCGS-MS70-First-Spouse-/260618489140?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3cae128d34#ht_500wt_1154
Yeah...I see those two plus two more (from the same sellers). If they're cranking out the MS70's, then my coins may turn out to be an interesting die variety...we can only hope hya:
