Um yeah...I love Pawn Stars, but paying double the spot value is just nuts. A nice gesture, but still.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

Not all states levy a sales/use tax on coins, currency and bullion. Nevada may be one of those that do not.

It's the same reason the US Mint is a joke. Ugly.

Yeah, but Marty was not a "pretty boy". Can't blame the artists for that. :)

Have you seen that recent commercial where some little girl has to dress up as Martin Van Buren and is looking for portraits of him? The last seen has her in the back seat of the car with his coif.

If you follow the show these came out last year. Too much of a premium for me.

Take a look at the big picture here, people.

They had a grand total of 1000 minted, that's tiny when compared to just about everything else minted. As I recall, they paid about $40/oz for the silver, sold it all off except the 1000 oz bar that Rick had made into this custom round, so let's say they have $43/ea into them. Is $22 profit per really that outrageous?

it doesn't matter what silver was at when they made them. it's what silver is worth now. even so yes i think for that round $22 is a little outrageous. to each their own. if you like it buy one. i don't have a problem with that. i would rather have 2 nice morgan dollars. :D

If I recall correctly, on there web site or auction it specifically states the ones being sold aren't part of that original 1,000.

Actually I think that's a nice coin and the artist did a good job!

Back on track - I'm not a fan of the show but I know I'd pay more than spot for a collectible silver round.

I'm sure they had to pay to have the minting done too....it is fair for them to re-coup some of those costs....

But I agree with everyone else I'd rather just have junk silver at spot....
